Cat Wine. Yes, it’s a thing. Where to buy + VIDEO

Yep. Cat wine is a thing now.

The company Apollopeak is debuting non-alcoholic "wine for cats."

You may have seen it on your Facebook feed recently. And this is what it’s all about:

So, what else?

Well, the cat wine products have what they call “a proprietary blend that includes all-natural organically grown catnip, fresh beets and natural preservatives to help hold the taste and color. We believe in natural ingredients for our particularly classy feline friends.”

Is there actual alcohol in this wine?

Well, no.

The site says:

No. Cat’s don’t really have a positive taste for alcohol, mainly because they tend to make bad decisions and do things they don’t necessarily remember the next morning. Unlike their humans, of course.

Clever AND funny!

We like their style, these Apollo Peak folks – the makers of this cat wine.

Will your gate actually like the wine? We can’t predict that.

The site says:

Let’s be honest. Cats are finicky and tend to get to know things (and humans) on their own terms. According to science (yes, science), only about 65% of cats have a sensitivity to the smell of catnip so it’s very possible that they won’t be immediately drawn to the drink. However, we have used tasty beets in our recipe that tend to draw more cats in for a yummy drink. We suggest serving the wine room-temperature as cats tend to not like cold beverages.

And, how will it affect them? Will they actually get, er, cat drunk?

Well, no. But you may be surprised to find out they will mellow out.

The site says:

Well, depending on how much they drink – the effects will vary. When cats smell catnip, they tend to get funny, move around and play a lot. The exact opposite occurs when they ingest catnip. They normally will become more “mellowed” out when they drink the wine so it might actually help for those restless nights.

So, they DOOO get a bit more relaxed. Cool. Way cool. Just asking for a friend…

And what about dogs? Can they join in the fun? Yep. They can! And… this company is “working on something especially for dogs so stay tuned.”

 Can humans drink it also?

Says the site:

Our wine is made with all natural ingredients that are beneficial to both cats and humans. While we state that the product is not intended for humans, fear not. Catnip is also used in tea and produces a sleepy feeling in both cats and people. Overall, no need to panic!

 Do they ship to Australia?

No. Not yet. We are sorry to tease you like that. We got all cat-like and carried away but we think it’s only a matter of time and they are likely looking for distributors. Maybe we should put our hand up…?
